1-Media Production ProjectMedia Production Project and Critical Thinking Skills
Part 1
Using either the topic of "copyright" or "Internet Safety", create a multimedia product of 10 or more slides using a presentation software, such as Google Docs presentation, Open Office presentation or PowerPoint. This assignment must be submitted as a ".ppt", ".pptx" or PDF file type. This multimedia presentation will need to be geared for a student or faculty presentation. This presentation must incorporate activities or methods that help students or faculty develop critical thinking skills. Such methods or activites could include informal pre or post assisments and or other engaging activites such as a games, quizes, a short video or skit. The idea of requireing audience participation and involvement during the presentation of your project will help develop these critical thinking skills. You will list any critical thinking objectives that you include in the project in the summary. (Based on questions on Bloom's Taxonomy. A copy of the taxonomy is located at Bloom's Taxonomy at http://www.coun.uvic.ca/learn/program/hndouts/bloom.html.)
Each presentation will include an example of audio clip or video clip; digitally scanned or downloaded photo image; and clip art.
Please complete and submit a written summary that describes the intended audience, objectives, presentation plan, critical thinking skills developed (again, see Bloom's Taxonomy page above). Include a copy of the storyboard cards that describe each slide and a printout of each slide in the written summary.
Submit this assignment as requested by your instructor. As you develop your assignment, be sure to review the following rubric for guidance on elements to include and the criteria that will be used to assess your assignment.
This assignment must be submitted as a ".ppt", ".pptx" or PDF file type.
Part 2
Digitally videotape (Digital or DVD) your presentation. You must present to at least 6 or more staff members (not related to you) or to a class of students if your presenation is geared for student level). Submit your videotape via digital file or DVD only. Label the digital file or DVD with your name, date, and assignment number. Remember, the focus of this taping is you - not the students.
