Digital Storytelling in the 21st century

You will be creating a digital story from 3-5 minutes in length using Photostory 3 or Moviemaker or other video graphic software on a topic of your choice.  Topics can include one of these digital story topic areas:  kinship stories, personal expression stories, myth, legends and tale stories, informative or expository stories, persuasive stories.

            Story of heirlooms

            Family mystery

            Imaginative story invented from an unlabeled photo

            Etc.

 

Personal expression story ideas

            Interpret a poem that touches your life

            Interpret a visual story on an historic, personal or current event

Choose and relate a montage of photos or images that shares feelings and

  thoughts on a personal, historic, current event or reflective topic

 

Myth, Legends, Tales story ideas

            Translate an ancient legend into a modern tale

            Create a myth about your own life

            Create a legend of our own life for your great, great grandchildren

            Create a fractured fairy tale

            Etc.

 

Informative or Expository Story ideas

            Create a personal reflection on something learned

            Create biographies of famous or important people

            Create biographies, inanimate ovjects or situations demonstrating essential

  information

            Provide how-to directions to teach a specialty or something newly learned

            Share the experience and reactions of a book read

            Share the experience and reactions of an historical events impact

 

Persuasive story ideas

            Compare and contrast a past event with a present event

            Relate a cause and effect situation or dilemma

            Create an advertisement to influence or shape opinions on issues

            Etc.

 

Pre-Production Phase

Prepare your digital story by writing a narrative script and planning the project with storyboards, and create and organize project folders to sort the resources as you create them.

 

Production Phase

Use the software to create your storyline. Add sounds, edit and render the video into a windows media video, MP4 or Quicktime file.

 

Write a brief narrative that includes your thoughts and reactions experienced in the production of your own digital story.  Submit digital story and narrative as requested by instructor.
